A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Oliver was selected as one of 20 students for specialist composition study and trained extensively in composition, orchestration, scoring to picture, advanced notation and music production. His work ranges from intimate instrumental writing and contemporary production through to music for full symphony orchestra.

Oliver has since developed a diverse professional practice across film, television and live performance. As a composer with PrimerChord Production Music, he has delivered more than 50 original tracks for professional briefs across television, film, documentary, sport, advertising, promos and trailers. His music has been used across Australian television and streaming productions, while his independent screen work has included film, documentary and commercial projects.

Alongside his screen work, Oliver is an experienced orchestrator and arranger. He has created more than 20 arrangements for the George Ellis Orchestra's touring Orchestrated concert productions, with programmes celebrating artists including Elton John, David Bowie, George Michael, Queen, The Beatles, Bee Gees and Fleetwood Mac. His work has also encompassed large-scale performance projects including the 2021 AFL Grand Final, professional recording at Trackdown Studios and orchestral and concert projects with Jigsaw Music and Jessica Wells.

Collaboration remains central to Oliver's practice. He has worked alongside composers, directors, producers, conductors, performers and production teams, with experience extending across the complete music-production process. From interpreting a creative brief and developing a musical language through composition, orchestration and score preparation to recording, revisions, production and final delivery.

In parallel with his creative practice, Oliver is a practising solicitor. Having completed a Juris Doctor at Macquarie University and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, his legal career has included commercial practice and experience in intellectual property, media and technology law. This dual professional background gives Oliver a particular interest in copyright, contracts, intellectual property and the legal and commercial frameworks through which creative work is developed, protected and brought to audiences.
